I hope everyone had a joyous holiday season. We did the usual...spent Christmas morning with just the husband and kids then we went family visiting and ate way too much. But tis the season to gain 10 pounds, right? I cooked my usual Christmas dinner last night. It turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. And tomorrow, it's back to the grindstone. So to keep the holiday spirit alive for just another day, I come bearing video recs. From Spikeylover: "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" Spike vs. Angel--the Christmas version. http://spikeylover.livejournal.com/328674.htmlAnd Andrea made a new vid for Christmas, but if you haven't seen her other Christmas vids you should check them out as well. Her new vid is "A Christmas Ghost Story." "Episodic of Amends, but all the angst and none of the snow. 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, let nothing you dismay' yet Angel is more than dismayed to be haunted by his victims from the past. Buffy is drawn into his nightmares - can she find the cause before it destroys Angel? Music is TransSiberian Orchestra's 'Christmas Eve - Sarajevo'." http://www.buffyandangelart.co.uk/xmas.htmScroll down past the wallpapers to get to vid. Her other Christmas vids are on this same page. Hope you enjoy them, and if you have an extra minute, maybe you could leave these great vidders some feedback as well. Current Mood: nostalgic

I am pleased to announce the first ever Buttmonkey Awards! We are a video award site for Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Lost, Veronica Mars and Tru Calling.
We are now taking submissions for Round One. We will close the round when we have 25 submissions. So go read the rules and then submit your video. Good luck! We intend to have a little fun with our site. And though the name is a little silly, we are serious vidders and we are serious about the videos we judge. We all know how good it feels to win an award, so we plan to update frequently and post the results as soon as possible. We already have 16 submissions and only need 9 more to close our first round. If you are a vidder, please drop by our site and nominate your vids, by clicking on the banner above, or click here: http://www.freewebs.com/whoisnorml/Whether you are a vidder or not, please come on by; we have some fun stuff on the site. And don't forget to drop us a line on the guestbook. Current Mood: productive

Happy Belated Birthday to raelee and a huge congratulations on the latest VM news. That is just awesome, Rae, and you deserve every good thing you receive. I am nominated at an award site that lets the fans vote for their favorite nominee. At Angel Without Wings Awards they are currently open for voting for Fanart and Fanfic. If you have a few extra minutes please stop by and vote for your favorite author or story from the nominee list. And if you like my Releasing the Demons vid, please vote for it in the Fan Art section. Click here to vote: To vote for me, Type 'Releasing the Demon's" in the section marked Best Fanart. You must include your name and email for your votes to count. Only one week left until my puppies are old enough to go to a new home. This makes me so sad. They have been a handful, but they have also been a lot of fun. The girls have already been selected and one boy has a new owner. My two favorites have been chosen. I'm not sure if this makes me happy or sad. If they hadn't been chosen, maybe we would have kept them, but at least I know they will have very good homes. And I know their new owners very well, so I'll get to see if them if I want. So my sister-in-law and I went to 2 Common Rotation concerts last week. On Saturday we say them in Nashville. We met up with fellow S'cubie, Sue, and had dinner at a really good Steak and Spaghetti restaurant called Demos. We had a really nice time with some great conversation. Sue is an absolute sweetie, so I am so glad we were able to meet up. Demos had this really cool thing that I didn't even know existed. Liquid Pure Sugar to sweeten your tea (or I guess you could use it in coffee as well.) It made the tea so yummy. I was fascinated by it. Am I the only one who didn't know they made liquid sugar? They should have this in every restaurant. The concert was at a coffee shop called Caffeine. We got there really early and there was a Latin band playing. They were really good and apparently had quite a following. Everyone was up and dancing when we entered. They were having the best time, it was infectious. When the first band was through a lot of people left so we were able to grab a front row table. Common Rotation was awesome, as usual. And after the concert they hung around and we chatted with them for a while, and bought 2 more cds. We also took some pictures with them. When we gathered our stuff to leave, Adam jumped up and ran up to us and gave us both big squeezy hugs. And a kiss on the cheek for Monnie. It was so much fun that we decided we had to catch them a couple of days later when they played in Georgia. The Georgia show was a little bit different. The venue was bigger and they were a little more energized. We were able to get second row seats at this one. The place was packed too. The band seemed to have a good time and the audience, (who was mostly there for the 2nd act) seemed to really like them as well. After the show, a lot of people who had never heard of CoRo before, bought Cd's and shirts. It was really cool watching them gain new fans. When the line died down we went by to tell them "good show" and Adam ran around the table and gave us big hugs and said he was so glad we came, it was comforting seeing a familiar face in the audience. Awwww. I bought another shirt, we said our goodbyes and got to hug all the guys. Jordan was so adorable with this new long beard and his cute dimples. Adam was his usual cutie self and Eric was very muscular. They looked great and sounded wonderful and I can't wait until the next time I get to see them again. They always put me in the greatest mood. I haven't taken my new CD out of the cd player since I got it. Happy Birthday tomorrow to makd, the Queen of Fic Recs and a wonderful friend. I miss you around the S3 board, Mary, but I'm glad I can still keep up with you here.
I'm hosting my friend, whoisnorml's vids now. He's made about 4 vids, but I only have one online at this time. It's a Spuffy vid set to Def Leppard's Now. This is the first vid that he has "put out there" and would really like some feedback. You can find the vid here:
Whoisnorml's Buffy Music Videos
There is a very simple feedback form right on the page, so please take some time and let him know what you think.

'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck... How to live in a world that's politically correct? His workers no longer would answer to "Elves" "Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves And labor conditions at the north pole Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety Released to the wilds by the Humane Society And equal employment had made it quite clear That Santa had better not use just reindeer So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!
The runners had been removed from his sleigh; The ruts were termed dangerous by the E P A And people had started to call for the cops When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened"
And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation Demanding millions in over-due compensation
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife Who suddenly said she'd had enough of this life Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz Demanding from now on her title was Ms
And as for the gifts, why, he'd ne'er had a notion That making a choice could cause so much commotion Nothing of leather, nothing of fur Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her Nothing that might be construed to pollute Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise Nothing for just girls. Or just for boys Nothing that claimed to be gender specific Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific
No candy or sweets ... they were bad for the tooth Nothing that seemed to embellish the truth And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden For they raised the hackles of those psychological Who claimed the only good gift was ecological
No baseball, no football ... someone could get hurt; Besides; playing sports exposed kids to dirt Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe; And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away
So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed; He just could not figure out what to do next He tried to be merry, tried to be gay But you've got to be careful with that word today His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground; Nothing fully acceptable was to be found
Something special was needed, a gift that he might Give to all without angering the left or the right A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision Each group of people, every religion; Every ethnicity, every hue Everyone, everywhere ... even you So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth ... "May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth"Based on an unoriginal earwig from P Halliwell Snatched from the SSS SS thread. Current Mood: silly Current Music: Polar Express Movie

Where did the time go? Christmas Eve is 10 days away and not only am I not through with my shopping, but as usual I have no idea what to get the rest of the people on my list. Raise your hand if this sounds familiar. ( Blah,Blah,Blah )In fandom news, I have a new video that I'm planning to put up soon. I also have a video by whoisnorml that I am going to put online as well. Eventually. One of these days, I promise, Jeff; I really will get to it. And for those of you who are watching Smallville this season solely to see James Marsters, you must go read Spring Summers' reviews, James' Bits - A View Beyond the Spike. Some funny stuff there. Heck while your there, look around. We have some amazing writers at our site and they do really wonderful reviews. We also offer some really great fanfic. And of course this is also where your find Spring Summers' Spikecentricity. (Spring Summer's insightful and delightful (and ebulgeometric) analysis of "Spike" BtVS episodes.) She is up to the The Gift at this time. Spring Summers is amazing and her analysis are a must read for any true Spike fan. You can find all this at The Soulful Spike Society.Spikecentricity is located on the top right side of the page and James' Bits; 3rd row middle. There you will also find Lost, Veronica Mars, Battlestar Gallactica, and Dr. Who reviews. And finally, I won a really cool award this month. I won the "Most Talented Vidder" award at HRA . They put this award right on the front page of their site. I also won an award for "Best Video," "Judges' Choice" and "Best Song" as well. That will help beat the holiday blues. I'm quite happy now. Just watched a new vid that made me laugh out loud. Spike=Saddam Hussein. This is a Spike vid set to South Park's Saddam Hussein's "I Can Change." She did a great job with clip selection and with bringing on the funny. It's perfectly evil. I've laughed every time I've watched it. http://www.livejournal.com/users/nicole_anell/44231.htmlI have never before been obsessed with a TV show until Buffy. Sure there were the few that I would be upset about if I missed them, but none that I watched over and over until I knew each episode inside and out. I am really liking Veronica Mars, a lot. But I am not obsessed about it. Of course it is still a new show and given time I may fall madly in love, I'm just not there yet. Which is why I don't think I could make a vid to it. I really have to know each character and each storyline intimately and I don't. Plus I like a lot of action in my vids and Veronica Mars isn't really an action type of show. Which is cool, just doesn't work for me where vidding is concerned. Until this week I haven't seen any Veronica Mars vids that really drew me in. I mean there are probably some great ones out there and I've seen some that I liked, but they just didn't touch me in any particular way. But this vid did. It's called "Feeling Good" and it's by astartexx . It's a Logan and Veronica video, showing the parallels between them. I wouldn't call it a shipper vid, it has much more depth to it than that. It makes me want to vid this show. It's very moving. The song is just perfect. I can't say enough about this video. Go watch it. NOW! And then leave feedback, kthnx! http://digital-dreamers.net/wp/?p=64I watched another VM vid that I really liked. It's a season 1 vid about Lily and Veronica (not slashy). It's called Deja Vu. It lives here: http://www.kitzeproductions.net/vmars/vids.htmlAnd please, if you watch these vids and enjoyed them, please let the vidder know by leaving feedback.
